About Nico

Nico Thomas is an Assurance Services partner in in the Firm’s Houston, Texas, office. With more than 17 years of experience, Nico has served both public and private companies in the United States and Canada, with a primary focus on the energy industry, including upstream E&P, midstream, and oilfield services.

Nico joined Marcum in 2022 from a “Big Four” accounting firm, where she specialized in U.S. GAAP in the Houston audit practice. Previously, she spent two years in the firm’s national office as part of the accounting services group, where she participated in accounting consultations and published various thought leadership.

Nico is well-versed in derivatives , business combinations, dispositions, discontinued operations, impairment, goodwill, segments, consolidation, equity method accounting, and revenue recognition.

Throughout her career, Nico has led audit engagement teams through acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, impairments, various complex accounting issues, and annual evaluations of internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley compliance standards for U.S. domestic companies.
