About Barbara
Barbara Sena is a partner in the Firm’s national Technical Review and Quality Control (QC) Group. She is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Firm’s assurance policies and procedures, compliance with governing bodies, scheduling of all QC professionals within the firm, integration of QC personnel through mergers, and technical review for all levels of service for private companies.
Barbara has been with the Firm since 1995. She is the Firm’s subject matter expert on U.S. Auditing Standards (GAAS), including risk assessments, Statement on Standards for Accounting and Review Services (SSARS), and Marcum’s audit approach. Her technical expertise includes small business audits, reviews, compilations, agreed-upon procedures, and private company variable interest (VIE) accounting. Key industry focuses include real estate and employee benefit plans.
Ms. Sena plays an important role in the Assurance Department training program, establishing the firm-wide assurance training curriculum on an annual basis.
As a member of the Firm’s Audit Efficiency Committee, she helps advance the careers of professional staff through mentoring, training session facilitation, and as the lead instructor for a variety of continuing professional education seminars.
Barbara graduated from Long Island University’s CW Post campus with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. As a Certified Public Accountant, she maintains memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), where she is a member of its Auditing Standards Committee.
